New Zion Women in Faith

by Terryann McCoy

New Zion Women in Faith met on April 11th at 3:00 PM in the Sunrise Room of the church. Peggy Wippel was program leader and hostess. She provided veggie pizza, pretzels, pumpkin dessert, and drinks.

The program had a shoe theme: “What Shoes Are You Wearing?” Peggy presented an example of seven types of shoes. Members read information about each. Have some fun—look them up: High heels (a haughty, proud person) Romans 12:3. Loafers (an indifferent, lazy Christian) Matthew 25:26. Overshoes (a religion that is only outward) Matthew 15:8. House shoes (wants things easy, comfortable, and convenient) Amos 6:1. Sandals (a skeleton of a Christian, a person who has not grown or matured as a Christian) 2 Peter 3:18. Sunday Shoes (the once-a-week Christian) Luke 16:13. Work shoes (the active Christian who is always busy for the Lord) Matthew 21:28.

Thank you to all who helped with the March 24th Soup & Sandwich Luncheon. Your attendance and donations are what really make these events a success. The donations in March went to the Baltimore-Thurston Area Emergency Assistance Program, organized by the Ministerial Association.

On March 30th at the Eggstravaganza was held at Johnson Park. Brenda Hanna and Terryann McCoy handed out postcards announcing our Easter services and Vacation Bible School. The children were given colorful stickers.

Thanks to Ann Arebalo, Joanne Miller, and their helpers for organizing the Easter Breakfast.

Cakes for the April 24th senior citizen lunch will be provided by Ann, Brenda Hanna, Denise Hartley, and Susan Slone. May 22 will be the next opportunity to provide cakes. Notify Peggy or Brenda if you would like to participate.

Brenda and Terryann attended the Olentangy River District UWF on April 6. The topic for the day was “Climate Justice.” Our New Zion unit received certificates for 5-Star Giving and the Reading Program--Susan completed plan 1 and Terryann completed plan 2. Our church had sent a gift in memory of 10 people who passed away in the last year. There was a time of memorial for them along with those submitted by other churches.

Prayer partners were chosen, lists were distributed so every New Zion woman will be prayed for this month, and new names were added to the “all pray” list. Each person prayed for her new prayer partner.

Books are needed for the reading program. Do you have a good book you would like to share? Talk to Rhonda Miller about contributing to the program.

Watch for information about a special meeting event in June.
