Good Neighbors in the Village: July
by Holly Harman Fackler, chair Welcome community members and partners,
The Good Neighbors in the Village Summer Lunch Program for area kids began June 7 and served about 30 children and several adults during its first three days -- a good beginning. Attendance will increase as word of the program spreads. But will there be enough adult volunteers to prepare and serve the meals? We are trusting God to send laborers to Christ United Methodist Church from 10:15 a.m. to about 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday through Aug. 4. If God is nudging you to help feed a hungry child in this very direct way, please call Becky Ety at 740-862-4050 or the church office at 740-862-4343. We need help NOW!
We have built a ramp for another Baltimore resident in need and cut the grass for a man with vision problems who was about to be cited into Mayor's Court. If you know of individuals who because of age, physical condition or other issues are having trouble keeping up with home maintenance demands, please let us know and we'll help if we can.
If you connected your Kroger Plus Card with Good Neighbors in the Village last year, it's time to renew your registration. It costs you nothing and it does provide some funds to help us in our work. To do this:
- Go to www.krogercommunityrewards.com
- Our NPO number is 12094
The next meeting of Good Neighbors in the Village will be a potluck at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Basil Park shelter house in Baltimore. Share a meal, join the conversation, get involved!
Questions or suggestions? I'm happy to hear from you.
