I Love Fall
By Pastor Jeff Smalley
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13
I love this time of year. I love everything about it. I love the rich fall colors. I love the cooler fall temperatures. I love the pageantry of college football. I love apple cider and cake doughnuts and hot chocolate on a cold day. I love everything about FALL! Can you tell it’s my favorite season?
Another reason I like this time of year is that the church kicks into a higher gear. Choirs are singing, Bible studies are starting, fall events are happening. All of this is true at New Zion. A wonderful study of Philippians is being led by Bob Wilson on Tuesday’s at 10am. The choir, under the leadership of Christie Rathgaber, is lifting up beautiful songs of praise every Wednesday evening at 7. And on Nov. 9 we will be holding an awesome Chili Cookoff and Bonfire. I want to encourage you to get in involved in the church outside of worship. Christ has given this church some strong Christian leaders to help us grow in our faith. The fellowship and growth of the Body of Christ is so important to our health as a community of faith. Come and get involved.
As your Pastor, I want to ask you to make worship a priority this season as well. Especially if you haven’t been to church in a while, I want to encourage you to come on Sunday. I believe Christ has led me to this place so that I may help this body of believers grow in knowledge of God’s amazing grace. Together, I believe we will grow as each of us takes our place in this wonderful Body of Christ. Come and check out your church family this Sunday. You will be lifted up!
I can’t begin to tell you how honored I am to be your shepherd and to care for your spiritual needs. I am also excited about………Chili, and doughnuts and……….. you get to idea.
Love in Christ
